Seventh Framework Programme for Research and Technological Development FP7
FP7 is the EU’s main instrument for funding research in Europe. It applies to the years 2007-2013 and is the result of years of consultation with the scientific community, research and policy making institutions, and other other interested parties.
Irish companies are drawing down 1 million Euro a week under the 7th EU Programme for Research and Technological Development (FP7) 2007 - 2013. Since the start of this programme in January 2007, Irish companies have drawn down over 83 million Euro and these monies have supported 353 different projects.
There is 52 billion Euro available under this programme between 2007 and 2013 and it is the stated objective of the Irish Government to seek to drawdown over 600 million Euro of this fund over this period.
Funding is available under this programme for multinational companies, SME groupings, third level colleges, local authorities, business representatives from the health, food, agricultural, environmental, transport, science and energy sectors for both private and public sector groupings.
The Irish Government is providing 335 million Euro per annum in support of Science, Technology and Innovation programmes in Ireland.
